A meeting of the skis: G3 team gathers to test out the Fall 2012 line

G3 Team gathers for annual sales meeting at Solitude

With nine new skis in G3’s 2012 lineup, brand new bindings, and changes to several other pieces, the G3 team has been patiently waiting for the ground to be covered with enough snow to give the new gear a test run. Last weekend, the wait was over. Hailing from all corners of the U.S and Canada, G3 reps, engineers, athletes and marketers gathered for the annual sales meeting at Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah, eager to spend the weekend learning the ins and outs of the new products.

"Oohs" and "aahs" were the first sounds after breakfast as each sales rep took his or her turn at flexing the new skis, admiring the bright graphics and asking one more time, “how fat is this?” The resort was blanketed with six new inches of snow, enough to cover the tracks from the previous day and to add some extra coverage to the early season snowpack. Many folks immediately negotiated for the fattest new skis, hoping to get their powder fix first thing in the morning. Others decided to try out the line from lightest to widest. Whether on lightweight touring skis, women’s-specific skis or burly skis from the Descent Series, everyone finished the first run with an ear-to-ear grin. “I love these,” and “skiing is so fun,” were common remarks as the day went on. Switching between skis not only gave each tester the opportunity to compare various features, it also gave everyone a chance to adjust and check out features on the latest version of the Onyx AT binding, which performed flawlessly inbounds on every ski from the widest powder boards to the lightweight touring line. A light tour in even more fresh snow provided the perfect classroom for using and learning about the newest pieces of avalanche safety equipment, skins and telemark bindings. Everyone parted ways exhausted from the weekend, but thrilled about the new line of gear and the current ski season that is now underway.
