Hunting for September Freshies

Alpine Hiking For September Snow

Sometimes winter just has its way of showing up right when you need it. OK, maybe not winter, but snow at least.

In mid September we were busy producing the 2011/12 Product Videos for G3 skis, bindings, and gear. They were coming together well, but just needed one magic ingredient… snow! Sure we had our fair share of time on the gear throughout 2011, testing, refining, filming and playing, but we hadn't taken many close-up shots, and what's a product video without some on-snow close-up shots? Apart from a second trip to Chile, we didn't have too many options in front of us... and then it snowed.

Yep, we may be months away from winter proper, but our backyard mountains between Vancouver and Whistler were hit with several impressive snow dustings in the last week of September, and judging by the forecast, it's still coming. Never one to pass up an excuse to go skiing, our video guy Jamie Bond rallied a friend with a 4x4 truck and headed for the hills.

Splitboard Tailgate

Who'd have known splitboards make such a good tailgate?

What followed was your classic day of pre season slogging, scrambling, slush carving, a brief moment of video work, and dare we forget; a couple hundred feet of binding deep freshies.

Long Way Home

Keep an eye out for the 2011/12 G3 Product Videos as they're released this month. Meanwhile, if this forecast pans out, we'll see you in the mountains.
