Saint Wins Explore Magazine's Best in Test

Explore ski test: G3 Saint, best in test
G3 Saint (126-93-114)(177cm = 3.4 kg) (Made in China with a poplar and paulownia core): The Saint is the first ski that all of our testers have checked-out since G3 moved production from Tunisia to China. After great success with their skis out of Tunisia, I was wary of how the new Chinese line would fare. Good news: the Saint is a winner, snagging Best in Test. This mid-fat is quite soft and performs best in moderate amounts of powder but also held its own on 50cm+ powder days. Its beefier waist makes the Saint our heaviest test ski but G3 says it was designed for people who split their days between the backcountry and the resort but want one ski to do it all. The Saint was most at home while skiing wider, GS style turns and its wider waist made quick, snappy turns a bit of a chore. Its soft flex also generated a fair bit of chatter at extreme speeds. But the public response to this ski has been very positive so G3 is in no rush to fool around with this workhorse- only the topsheet graphic will change for the 2010/2011 Saint. And it's a good sign that all of our testers would recommend this ski to a friend.
