Having grown up in the Bavarian Alps with his two younger brothers and one older sister, and a local ski area just 5 minutes away, it seemed only normal for Peter to begin skiing at the tender age of 3. With a deep appreciation for mountain environments established at an early age, he began taking his guides courses and attained his UIAGM certification in May 2007. In the winter he spends his time backcountry skiing and guiding with his focus being the search and discovery of new places with perfect snow and few people. This has become more and more difficult but remains a welcomed challenge for Peter. When not skiing, climbing or biking, Peter can be found working as an arborist, maintaining and felling trees in the gardens of Europe. I remember learning to telemark ski at my home ski area. Everyone laughed at me as I fell down the slopes. However, a few weeks later i was able to keep up with the alpine skiers. My first telemark binding was the G3 Targa mounted on an old pair of my father’s skis. I skied that binding for years and never had problems. Skis changed; they got wider and stiffer but the binding remained the perfect product. That is how gear must work in the backcountry: stable, simple and durable.
