Pre Season 'Product Testing' on the Kokanee Glacier
With fresh snow in the alpine and a top secret new product that needed some testing, G3 engineer Cam Shute wasn't going to let the perfect opportunity for a ski day go to waste. He met up with Nelson based photographer Kari Medig and scored a pretty solid ski day considering it was only mid October! Here's some quick notes and photos from what looks like a pretty sweet day of 'product testing'. Pretty sweet indeed.
It turned out to be a pretty fun day, especially for mid October! Despite hitting snooze, sleeping in and missing our true alpine start, we managed to pack up and get going by 7AM for a big day of skiing. We managed to knock off 18km and 1500m of vert of climbing/skiing, and still sneak home by 5:30 to not miss dinner. Starting from Gibson Lake (Nelson BC region), we skied up to the keyhole in Kokanee Glacier Park and then traversed over to the top of the Kokanee Glacier. After a brief wait for the weather, we took advantage of a window and milked some surprisingly good skiing down Kokanee Glacier. You know, 'product testing' the whole way down. Just to make it a true 'work' day, we stopped in at the cabin to make coffee and even check email! Anyone who has been there knows time spent at Kokanee Glacier Cabin is far from roughing it. With a sweet ski day behind us, we then skinned out to the car, and like I said, made it home just in time for dinner—the way all good ski days should end.
