Melanie Bernier G3 Bio:
Originally from Quebec City, Melanie grew up skiing and competing moguls on hard pack snow. When she finally realized the there was more to skiing then icy moguls, she moved to BC. She spent five wonderful years skiing in Whistler where she first got introduced to backcountry skiing and completely felt in love with it. Since then, she has been close, if not at the top of the Canadian Ranking and has traveled to Switzerland, Andorra to race in the Ski Mountaineering World Championships as well as the Pierra Menta, four day stage race in France. She also traveled to Argentina, Patagonia and Chile to explore snow covered volcanoes. She now lives in Revelstoke, BC to get access to great terrain and amazing snow. Owner of a small Residential Design Business and part of RMR Ski Patrol, Melanie manages to spend a lot of time on snow. She has a lot to look forward to over the next winter season. In addition to the regular Canadian Race Calendar, Melanie will once again travel to Europe to race in the 2011 Ski Mountaineering World Championships in Italy. While in Europe, she will spend time in the Dolomites, the French Alps and race again in the Pierra Menta. It will be busy but good!
G3 Gear Story:
7:30 am Rogers Pass BC, The Pass has been closed for a few days due to high snowfall. We were patiently waiting for the snowplow to clear the parking of Bostock. As we fought our way up McGill Shoulder in knee-deep snow, the trail braking was worth what was waiting for us at the top. With the light yet fat ZenOxide, not only the ascent was easier, the descent was stellar. There is simply no compromise with those boards.
