Hiking for the snow

October Powder - Five Years of Turns All Year

When there's snow to be skied, count on the Traslin brothers to find it. This past weekend they did just that, topping off 5 years (yep, that's 60 months) of Turns All Year. Are they the first to do it? Heck no. That's not the point. Maybe there is no point, apart from good quality fun. Mike and Andy Traslin are simply getting out there to ski as much as they can, all year long. Congrats to them and here's to another 60 months of turns to come.

Here's Mike's update, originally posted (quite appropriately) on TurnsAllYear.com.

Whistler/Blackcomb put out the annual early season video of skiing powder on the glacier. They usually fly up some pros to shred for the moment and hype up the mountains for the upcoming season.

I got the bug, the only problem was, when we arrived there was no snow from what we could see from the parking lot. We ran into some Whistler locals who we're doing the same.

We hiked up to the snowline way up on the Blackcomb glacier. Then skinned up Blackcomb  peak. We waited for the sun to poke through and skied from the summit. We had a great fall line run down to the moraine.
