On a ski mountaineering trip around Valdez this past spring we were digging in and setting up snow shelters. The snow was what you would expect in Alaska in the spring, super dense and very consolidated. There were two of us in the group with G3 shovels. Every time we let our shovels sit idle, someone would grab them. It was clear that the G3 shovel was the one tool able to deal with the Alaska spring snow conditions.
