G3’S
WEDGE – ADDING TURBO TO THE TARGA
N. VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, November 1, 2005 – Presented
at the Winter Outdoor Retailer show this past January, the TARGA
Wedge is now shipping. Developed as an accessory to the G3 TARGA
and T/9 bindings, the TARGA Wedge is sold with longer screws and
easily integrated into the TARGA bindings between the binding’s
toe plate and shim.
Designed with downhill performance in mind, the five-degree wedge
reduces rocker launch, promotes flexion of the boot and immediately
engages the G3 spring cartridges upon initiation of the turn. Constructed
with high impact, cold resistant plastic, the Wedge creates a more
active binding, improves turning efficiency and provides greater
stability at speed.
According to the industry trade group Snowsports Skiing America
(SIA) telemark skiing is experiencing a wave of popularity in resorts
across North America. The organization noted that “telemark
ski equipment continue(s) to gain popularity”. The 2004 SIA
Retail Audit reported “a 74% increase over last season’s
sales” for telemark ski equipment and that “Telemark
binding sales leapt 110%. ” With the rise of in-resort telemark
skiing, the TARGA Wedge is a natural addition to the popular G3
TARGA line.
Inspired by Martha Burley, a G3 athlete who “free heels”
her way to podium finishes at alpine freeskiing events worldwide,
the G3 Wedge is a welcome improvement for tinkerers looking to eke
out even more performance from their bindings.
“The wedges are wicked,” says Burley. “I have
to be aggressive and forward on my skis when I train and compete.
The wedges provide the resistance I need for the results I expect.”
The TARGA Wedge retails for $21 USD or $23 CAN and is available
from your favorite G3 dealer or online.
