G3 introduces the industry’s first asymmetric “fatty”

The Rapid Transit’s generous dimensions and unique sidecut create a remarkably versatile ski that handles a wide variety conditions

VANCOUVER, BC (For Immediate Release) – New for 2006/2007, G3 Genuine Guide Gear’s Rapid Transit hits the market as the first ever ”fat” asymmetric ski.

Designed by 22-year ski industry veteran Paul Parker, the Rapid Transit’s unique asymmetric design increases edge control, maximizing maneuverability and creating a consistent, lively feel in a variety of conditions.

“Every backcountry skier knows how quickly snow conditions can change due to elevation, slope aspect, and changing weather,” said Oliver Steffen, President of G3 Genuine Guide Gear.  “With these varying conditions in mind, we set out to develop a ski that would give a solid, consistent feel anywhere on the mountain.  The result is the Rapid Transit.”

The Rapid Transit’s unique asymmetric sidecut gives the outside edges a tighter turning radius than the inside edges, adding edge control to the uphill ski for better edge hold and maneuverability on hardpack while providing smoother transitions in the softer stuff.

Like all G3 skis, the Rapid Transit is built with a combination of sandwich and cap construction, resulting in a smooth, round flex underfoot, while maximizing torsional rigidity at the tip and tail where it’s needed most.

A newly developed, textured topsheet helps reduce snow and ice build-up, keeping ski weight to a minimum.

Dimensions of the Rapid Transit are 128mm at the tip, 91mm at the waist, and 116mm at the tail, giving the ski ample width to float through powder and plenty of sidecut to carve turns in hardpack conditions.

Available in three lengths (171cm, 178cm, and 185cm) the Rapid Transit retails for $724.95.
