Trip Description:
Starting from Haines Alaska, we ski toured through the Fairweather Range which includes the Grand Pacific Glacier, the Melborne Glacier, and many others. We crossed the Alsek River, then into the St. Elias proper. We started up the Novatak and then into various glaciers in a white out, popping onto the Tweedsmuir Glacier and then the Hubbard Glacier in all its glory. We broke the glacier travel up by climbing the east ridge of Mt. Logan and ski touring across the Logan Plateau at ~17000 feet. We travelled down the King's Trench and onto the Bagely Ice Field for 250 km! We finally toured down the Miles Glacier towards Miles Lake, but not before having to weave back into the local hills to by-pass a number of poorly placed cliff bands. Our tour ended at Miles Lake and Cordova, Alaska after fifty-five days, 7 food drops and 700kms of terrain.
