Andy Traslin on Mountaineering, TV and Beaches
My best trip/mission this winter was...I would have to say the Joffre enchainment: The weather, snow, stability lined up for epic boot top pow conditions. Followed not far behind by Mt. Currie Pencil chute as my second favourite. Mainly because I’ve been wanting to ski it for so long.
After a mind blowing trip, the first thing I do is …Eat a big meal, have a couple pivos, turn the TV on, check out the photos, then start dreaming about the next trip.
Winter's dead. Summer for me is all about...Trying to enjoy the sunny weather. Go to the beach, check out the sights. Mountain bike, free ride, road ride, rock climb, mountaineer.
If I’m feeling unmotivated, I usually…I just try to get off the couch every day. If I can do at least one activity outside. I feel more relaxed. Ski on the hill. But if I can’t pull it off. Eat some junk food like a big bag of chips, ice cream.
When the snow comes back, I'm already planning...Obsessing about when that certain ski line is going to come into condition. Trying to put it all together in safe and ideal conditions. Just getting some epic powder days.
The G3 gear I’m most eager to get my hands on...Empire skis - Fat skis for phat days. Pull out the alpine boots and charge on a big powder day on hill.District skis - Big touring days climbing, making the descents that much sweeter.
