Fall Climbing trip to Moab and Indian Creek
I find November a tough month to be in Canada. Sometimes the preseason skiing is good, but the rain and the grey often dims my motivation to explore.
I always try to squeak in a quick climbing or surfing trip so that I can come back home and start to get fired up for ski season.
This year I had a bunch of friends from Squamish and Nelson heading down to the Moab area in Utah to climb, and I decided to join in for some desert climbing. Thanks so much to Katy, Kelly, Ruby, Jay, Susie, Jia, Ange, Ella, Elias, Nick, Karina and Nate for such a great time!
I mainly climbed in Indian Creek, but managed to finally tick off the North Face of Castleton Tower with Jay Burbee and Susie Dain-Owens which I've been wanting to climb ever since I rappeled down it. It was pretty cool too, as it was Jay's fourth try at the route having been thwarted by weather the previous times.
This turned out to be a highlight of the trip, and a reminder of how special these desert towers are. They're always burly with steep exposed crack climbing in a beautiful setting with not a drop of rain, does life get much better?
Although I could have stayed for a month after climbing 7 days in a row my body needed a rest, and my thoughts started to turn to heading back north and prepping the quiver for the upcoming ski season. Enjoy the pix.
